Instead, you are scouring the internet to find out anything you can about surviving with your baby in the NICU. Because the truth is, you are in survival mode right now. And that’s ok.

Right now, place your hands over your heart. Close your eyes, and feel your heart beat. Notice each inhale and exhale of your breath. Say out loud, “It’s ok”. Do this from time to time throughout your day, and if only for those few moments, you will find relief.

How White Noise can help you and your baby sleep better

Sleep. It’s desired by mothers everywhere, yet fought by infants to the nth degree. We joke, almost hysterically, as we navigate our new world with very heavy eyelids, that one day our children will sleep til noon, avoiding teenage responsibilities and household chores. We hang tight to hope — hope that one day we might come to know what a full night’s sleep feels like. And thus, we read. We read every book offering tips and tricks to getting a baby to sleep through the night or go down easily for a nap, and we implement every trick with high expectations. While using infant swings, regulating room temperatures, designing a routine, and installing blackout curtains can certainly help, we found one tip that greatly intrigued us because of its soothing capabilities for both mom and baby: white noise.

Baby Shower Games That Don’t Suck

Baby showers are a time for celebration, camaraderie and sharing in love for the mom-to-be and her soon to arrive bundle of joy. Age old tradition dictates that showers must include an assortment of games to keep the guests occupied while they wait for gifts to be opened.

As you start your planning, think about what guests will be in attendance and what they will enjoy the most. A couples shower may call for more hands-on games while a group with the new mom, grandma, and aunts may be better suited to games that take place on paper.

Put away the string! No woman wants to invite her friends over to guess how big her belly is, and diapers full of chocolate are just gross! Next time you’re challenged with finding games for an upcoming shower, give some of these a try, and impress the guests with how much fun they’ll have at the celebration.

Yes – in an ideal world, your baby will keep on cooking for as long as possible within a 40 week time frame; but the reality of the situation is that you’re tired, swollen, moody, sore all over and so over being pregnant!

If that even closely describes you, then this post is for you. We took some time to talk amongst ourselves and identify some of the most ridiculous (and useful) things we’ve done to occupy our time during the final countdown. So, with that in mind, read on if you need a good chuckle; but don’t be surprised if you walk away with a few good ideas for how to spend the last few weeks of your pregnancy.
