Toddler Eating: A Healthy Tuna Salad

This recipe has existed for a while, and was popular to eat throughout the whole “Atkins Diet” craze. Now, everyone on Paleo is eating it up. It doesn’t change the fact though that this recipe is a great alternative to your boring tuna sandwich, and the amazing health benefits of it are indisputable.

The tuna and eggs are a great source of protein, while the avocado provides lots of good monounsaturated fat, that is easily burned for energy. Avocados are also a great source for dietary fiber.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can tuna
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 hard boiled egg
  • *Optional* Spices such as pepper, or a dash of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Mash the items together, and serve ASAP (or else the avocado will turn a yucky, toddler-not-approved, color)

This recipe is also great served as a sandwich between some whole grain bread, and is nutritionally superior to a mayonnaise filled option.

What is your family’s favorite way to eat tuna?
