5 Ideas for Mom’s Day Off

This discussion is sponsored by Crocs.

When you’re a mom, time away from your daily routine is unusual. What happens when you run into a rare day of unexpected down time? Maybe all of your kids were invited to play dates at friends’ houses on the same day. Perhaps your husband makes last minute plans to take the kids out for the day, giving you a well-deserved break (feel free to pass this along for someone who might need a hint for Mother’s Day!) In these moments, it’s easy to feel the paralysis of “What should I do now?!” as you try to figure out how to spend this precious time.

Having a mom’s day off is a luxury that we think every mom should be afforded, whether planned or not. We’ve teamed up with Crocs to showcase their beautiful spring line of shoes, and how they can be worn in everyday instances on a great day off. After all, it’s all fun and games until you’re halfway through your soothing lakeside walk, and you have to turn around because you’re not sporting sensible shoes. Style and comfort can be married in a shoe. It is possible! Without further adieu, here are our top 5 suggestions on what you can do on your next, unexpected “Mom’s Day Off.”

1. Spend time outdoors

Find a lake or beach near your home and enjoy some time near the water. Lay in the sand without the worry of applying sunscreen to little faces. Stroll on a dock without the fear of your kids running a little too close to the edge.

Head to a new park or nature preserve and explore the trails, sans stroller. Kick off your shoes and walk barefoot through the grass.

If you aren’t the barefoot type, choose the Isabella Sandal by Crocs to stay comfy anywhere you go. Wearing Crocs can not only be comfortable, they are also stylish, with their new spring and summer line.

2. Pamper Yourself

Take a nice long shower or soak in a bubble bath. Get that long overdue pedicure. Book an appointment for a haircut or spa treatment. Show off your pedicure in the Crocs Piper Platform Flip.

3. Read a book

The Remarkable Farkle McBride and Goodnight Moon are great books to read with your kids, but let’s face it: your brain is probably craving some grown-up literature. Head to the library or your favorite bookstore and choose a book to read from start to finish… without interruption! Maybe you want to enjoy a good mystery, be motivated by an inspirational title or just want to laugh! Whatever your preference, find a quiet place, your favorite beverage and enjoy!

4. Treat yourself

Grab coffee from your favorite café or a meal from your favorite restaurant. Skip the drive through and take your time. Resist the urge to rush, because remember… you have no place else to be!

5. Play with your kids

A day to yourself might feel glorious, but the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” applies to our children, too. After a full day on your own, you might be ready for some one-on-one time with the kids who made you a mom in the first place!
