Edible Marshmallow Paint
If your kids are anything like our kids they are always asking to do a fun craft with you! Well, we have one today that is not only fun, but yummy too! With only a few simple ingredients that you probably already have at home, you can turn any regular day into an exciting one by making some edible marshmallow paint! This paint is very pretty and is completely edible- yes sugary, but that’s part of the fun! It’s great for kids of all ages and makes some beautiful soft colors that your kids will love painting with.
Here’s how you make this fun paint
What you will need
- 1 cup marshmallows (mini sized works best)
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 T corn syrup
- food coloring
- sticks for stirring
- containers for storing
What you need to do
Begin by melting the marshmallows in a large microwave safe bowl for about 30 seconds. The marshmallows will expand, be prepared, so use a big bowl.
Once melted, add in the water and microwave for an additional 30 seconds and then stir again. Next, add in the corn syrup and microwave for another 30 seconds and stir until it’s smooth.
Let your mixture cool for a few minutes, and then you will pour it into individual containers for coloring. You may find it easier to put it into a large measuring cup and use that to pour since it has the lip designed for that. Once you have divided it up, now you make it colorful by adding in a few drops of coloring to each container and stir with a popsicle stick.
You can make as many or as little colors as you would like! This recipe will allow you to make a few ounces of each color.
Allow the paint to cool for a bit before handing it off to your little ones to paint. It’s best to use a paint brush with this paint since it is sticky. It will dry slightly tacky but in many beautiful, soft shades of whatever colors you chose! The paint can be stored at room temperature for a few days in an air tight container so it can be used again. Don’t store it in the fridge or else it will become hard and candy-like.
This edible marshmallow paint is as easy to make as it is fun to paint with! Your kids will love painting with food and will have a blast using it to create all sorts of beautiful masterpieces for you to hang up and enjoy.
