Harvard Medical School released a study regarding diet and fertility explaining that, while there are uncontrollable factors that affect fertility, such as age or genetics, there are also controllable factors, such as specific foods you should be eating and also avoiding, in order to improve fertility. 

With some simple diet changes and a little inside knowledge on fertility, women and men can tip the fertility scale in their favor.

1. Fish:

Fish is rich in omega-3s and omega-6s. The oil of salmon, sardines, shellfish and mackerel are an excellent way to positively effect sperm count. These oils can also enhance the quality of sperm and help regulate overall male reproductive health. It also helps improve blood flow! Whether you grill your fish or bake it in an oven, there are some great fish recipes out there to encourage men to eat more fish.

2. Pumpkin Seeds:

Pumpkin seeds have essential fatty acids that aid in male fertility. Eating 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds a day will do the reproductive system good.  

3. Oysters:

It’s no secret that oysters are known for being natural aphrodisiacs, but they’re also high in zinc which contributes to boosting male fertility. Oysters are similar to beans, eggs and nuts which should also be added in as supplements in a fertility diet meant to enhance male fertility.

4. Honey:

2. Berries and Yams:

Berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, are loaded with antioxidants that protect the body from cell damaging and aging including your egg cells. You can also incorporate other berries like strawberries and blueberries into your diet which also work well. Yams are known for containing an ovulation stimulating substance and they’re rich in fertility-friendly vitamins. 3. Protein:

  • Dong Qui: This herb helps balance estrogen levels in the body and improves chances of implantation. It’s also useful in problems associated with menstruation.
  • Chasteberry: This herb helps increase fertility by stimulating the pituitary gland which controls the production of all sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It also helps in balancing sex hormones. 

In addition to eating some of the foods mentioned above, it’s also recommended that a healthy diet and regular exercise routine is incorporated into a daily routine.
