Loving the Skin You’re In: Body Love for Moms

Motherhood comes with a million challenges. We learn a new way of living, reprioritize pretty much everything and accept that our lives are forever changed. We’re expected to accomplish it all with a smile, a sense of humor and a love for our new lifestyle regardless of what we’ve left behind. We’re grateful for Daily Mom because we see the content spreading a message of acceptance for all moms and support for all the challenges we face, including body love.

We are Peachie Moms and we’re on a mission to give you the tools to love yourself, your body and your life as a mom. We focus on body love, mental wellness and a sense of community unabashedly and often inappropriately talking about topics others won’t touch because they’re just too sensitive, controversial, honest, real.

Today we’re talking about loving the skin you’re in as a mother. That’s right, the “mombod.” We’re goin’ there.

Pre-Baby Body? Mombod?

Our bodies change incredibly during pregnancy and the postpartum period. After having a child, you’re expected to either: get your pre-baby body back in 8 weeks or your money back! — or give up on yourself, your figure, your overall upkeep and find yourself in spit-up stained sweats and a messy ponytail for the remainder of your days, complete with a side of self-loathing.

We’ve had about enough of it and we’re changing the script.

The truth is, it’s simply not possible for anyone to get their prebaby bodies back ever! From hormones to hipbones, we’re changed forever. And that’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay, it’s a beautiful thing. When you start your body love journey from a place of knowing you’re not alone and that you’re totally normal, whatever your struggles are, you’re on the right track.

The Peachie Moms Guide to Body Love for Moms

Loving The Skin You'Re In: Body Love For Moms 1 Daily Mom, Magazine For Families

Recently, we released our first book, The Peachie Moms Guide to Body Love for Moms. We focus on accepting the changes we experience as mothers and then learning to love ourselves, our bodies and our lives in a way that just feels right for each and every one of us. The truth is, we’re all very different. As mothers, women, partners, people, we’re fascinatingly complicated and unique and that’s awesome.

This differentiation is part of what makes us beautiful as human beings, but it can also bring about competition and a feeling of ineptness, especially when it comes to body image for mothers. In our book, we start with simply learning about our bodies and accepting that they’re different. They’re new. They’re foreign. But they’re ours. Forever.

Once we accept where our bodies exist currently, from stretch marks to scars, we can learn to love all the nooks, crannies and stray hairs that have come as a result of this beautiful, awful, always incredible adventure called motherhood. Acceptance of reality takes us to a place where loving the skin we’re in is entirely possible.

Through true body love, you’ll learn to intuitively feed and care for yourself in all areas of life from food to fashion. Because you’re truly worth it.

When we think about loving ourselves and our bodies and how we teach other mothers to do the same, we tend to think about all the children of those mothers. As moms, we want to give our kids the gift of happiness, health and love for themselves, right? What better way to teach them that than to embrace our own birthrights of self-love, body and all?

Consider joining us on your own body love journey, will you?
