ou have gone off of birth control and you are enjoying the practice that goes into making a baby. However, you are also trying to figure out ways to save money before you get pregnant, without completely giving up your life. We have brought you 10 easy ways of budgeting before baby arrives to make your TTCing a little easier.

  1. Invest in a french press and a bag of your favorite coffee so that you can avoid the daily Starbucks pit-stops.  Love the taste of Starbucks coffee and don’t think you can give it up? Well you don’t have to with this ground Starbucks House Blend! Just put a few scoops in the french press each morning and you could be saving hundreds of dollars in a year.
  2. Do you have a friend with similar taste in literature? Share your books! You can even share them digitally by having her “loan” you her e-books through Kindle. You don’t even need to have a Kindle tablet, all you need is the app and an Amazon account! Here at Daily Mom we love this book from Amazon. {For more books you should be reading, check out this post}
  3. Sign up for discount sites like LivingSocial & Groupon. These sites will email you daily deals for discounts on everything from wine tastings to dinner to laser hair removal!
  4. Commuting to work every day can do a number on your gas tank. Consider buying gas from a store where you have a membership. Kroger, WalMart, Sam’s, and Home Depot all have fuel rewards when you have a membership through their stores. You can even earn extra fuel points by buying a certain dollar amount of products.Z
  5. Buy your organic produce from a co-op or farmer’s market to not only save money, but also support your local farmers.
  6. In your efforts to go green you have turned off the lights and water when they aren’t in use. But did you know that all of those appliances are still using electricity even when turned off? Unplugging appliances when they aren’t in use is a great way to conserve energy and save money! An easy way to do this is to plug your appliances into a power strip and when they aren’t being used, just flip the switch on the power strip.
  7. If you have a friend who wears the same size clothes or shoes as you do, consider doing a clothes swap! It is a great way to remix your wardrobe without spending a dime! You are doing each other a favor and solving that ever-present problem of “I have nothing to wear!”
  8. Do you and your man go to the movies every Friday night? Consider subscribing to Netflix or Hulu+ instead. A monthly subscription is cheaper than one adult ticket to the cinema!
  9. Have your own home and feel that it costs a fortune to heat it in the winter? Use a space heater to only heat the rooms that you are using.
  10. Buy pregnancy tests or ovulation predictor kits from Amazon. We all know that one pregnancy test just isn’t enough – we test and retest and test again. Because you will need many during your TTC journey, buy them in bulk from Amazon to save a bit of cash. We recommend these home pregnancy tests and ovulation predictor kits because they are inexpensive and reliable!
