Spring Break Cocktails with a Twist

Spring Break Cocktails with a Twist

Ahhh Spring break: drinks in hand, beach sand between our toes, a teeny swim suit on. Oh wait, that was Spring Break, pre-kids. Now-a-days it’s sprinkler time, noodle crafts, and play dates, but just because we have babies now doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a warm spring evening cocktail! For this Spring Break, we have taken three classic drinks: the cosmopolitan, a bloody mary and the margarita and changed them up a bit. We have taken some of our favorite mixers and liquors and combined them with a twist to each drink and made them unique, and more suited for spring break! So after the kids are in bed, try one of these unique drinks and just imagine you are on the beach instead of in your backyard.

The Madras

A fruity twist on the classic Cosmopolitan using the super simple Powell & Mahoney mixers. We love how the splash of orange juice takes this drink to an almost summery feel.

Ingredients

In a shaker, combine the Cosmo mix, vodka and orange juice. Shake well and serve over ice. Garnish with a fresh orange slice.

Lemon-Lime Margarita

By taking the simplicity of the Powell & Mahoney Margarita mix and combining it with the smooth taste of Herradura Tequila and some fresh lemon and lime, you are truly in for a treat with this cocktail. It’s like you can taste the upcoming summer with every sip.

Ingredients

Combine the margarita mix, Herradura tequila and 1 1/2 Tablespoons of the lemon lime mix in a shaker. Rim the glass with lime juice and salt, if desired first and then pour in the mix. Serve with a lime slice.

If you are a fan of tequila you will truly love the smoothness of Herradura Silver. It’s “sipping” quality makes it one of the smoothest tequilas on the market and has a subtle sweetness of agave to it. This tequila is aged for 45 days leaves your mouth with a smooth and warmth that only a few tequilas can. Enjoyed alone, with a tequila flight with other Herradura tequilas, or blended into a craft cocktail, like this Lemon Lime Margarita, you will not be disappointed with the classiness of this tequila and it’s unique smoothness.

So if you can’t escape to a tropical island this spring break, opt for a mini vacation at home this year with one of these drinks in your hand! We can promise you it will make all of the noodle crafts worth it.
