When was the last time you felt truly relaxed and completely connected with all that is going on around you? Life certainly has a way of taking over. Between work, personal obligations, hauling the kids to sports, birthday parties, and class trips, the list just seems endless. Sometimes, with the monotony and business of day to day responsibilities you start to feel worn down as a person, mother, and wife. Slowing down is a foreign concept to many couples and families, yet it is the most overlooked way to rest and recharge. If you are looking for a getaway, whether just for adults or for the whole family, you simply cannot overlook the Emerson Resort and Spa located in the picturesque Catskills.
It’s the “consciousness” that you wish would dissipate every single time a negative thought came to fruition. The inner chatter that says, you’re not good enough, who are you to do or say something that isn’t worthwhile, you’re too ugly to be loved wholly, you don’t deserve a break because you don’t work hard enough, you’re too fat, you’re too skinny, your skin isn’t perfect… AWWHHHHH, SHUT UP!!! The ever-constant inner chatter, such a familiar voice, you begin to believe and live your life according to its seductive, yet debilitating suggestions. Your everyday decisions are based upon this perceived reality of the inner chatter and you don’t even realize it, but you can get rid of it.
The end of the school year is upon us. Before you grab your kids and run off on summer vacation, it is time to take a moment to show some love to the teachers who have been pouring so much into your children all school year long. Teachers are such a huge part of our kids’ lives. It is bittersweet to move on at the end of the year to the next grade. You are sad to say goodbye to the teachers your child has grown to love, but excited to get to know the new teachers in the fall. Each teacher shares a little piece of his or her heart with your children, and your children carry that through the rest of their lives. To show your love and gratitude this year, think outside the box when it comes to teacher appreciation gifts. Here are a few gifts we’ve gathered that teachers will actually love.
It’s no secret that children often learn by our interactions with them. We may think that cuddling, singing, and playing with our babies are just simple bonding activities, but they are so much more than that. Many studies show that the more we talk to our babies, the more they learn. Communicating with your child is pivotal for his/her growth and development. One of the best ways to promote aural learning is to simply read to your child.
So, while it may seem silly to walk around Target humming songs, pointing out colors, or simply reading to an infant with no verbal communication skills of their own – do it. Babies learn about speech, language, and reading skills long before they actually begin to speak and read on their own.
Spring time is always celebrated. Winter winds down and more sunny days arrive. The world wakes up and blooms all around us. One thing about spring though is your wardrobe has to balance between winter and summer, leaning more one way or the other depending on where you live. Families further north, like in Minnesota, can’t pack up their winter gear yet but need to incorporate lighter layers. Families down south move into a summer frame of mind a little earlier and start hitting the pools or beach way before Memorial Day. Whatever spring feels like for your family, we’ve got you covered with some cute new styles for your daughter this season.
This spring break was a bit out of the ordinary for Elena and I (Dani) and our two kiddos. If you’ve been around Daily Mom at all, you know that we have a bad case of wanderlust, especially when it comes to us two. Half of the grand travel gestures we toss around never come to fruition, but this time was different. Elena decided to spend every extra minute she had – and trust me, there are not many extra minutes in this power woman’s day – on planning the perfect kid-friendly, with an educational twist, ten day trip on the other side of the country. Her hard work paid off, and we are currently – I’m literally sitting on the lawn of Tanque Verde Ranch writing this post – traveling through the state of Arizona, soaking in all the sunshine, desert heat, and cowboy facts we can find. Our first leg of the trip landed us in Tucson, at the best dude ranch in Arizona, the Tanque Verde Ranch. We’re pretty okay with just staying here for the whole week, as it’s a western paradise that fulfills us in every way, but our restless souls will ultimately move on tomorrow. So here is our diary entry into these last three days that were spent on an authentic ranch, together with our little cowboy and cowgal, Eli and Lexi.
Spring breaks are like Christmas; every year they come rolling around, whether we’re ready or not. If your typical spring break consists of lounging around the house, plugged into the boredom-busters, listening to the kids fight while you catch up on laundry and Netflix episodes, consider doing something different next year when spring break creeps up on you. If you’re craving a bit of adventure and western flair, whether you live on the East Coast or the West, pack up the cowboy boots and hats, and take the family to a real life dude ranch in beautiful Tucson, Arizona. Tanque Verde Ranch is your answer to a week full of disconnected family bonding time, spent among the most stunning landscapes and wildlife that nature has to offer.
Of all the decisions we have to make as parents, choosing a good car seat for our child is one of the most important ones we’ll make. In fact, you legally need a car seat from the moment you take your baby home from the hospital until he or she is big enough to safely fit into adult seat belts. Up until recently, this requirement would have most parents spending hundreds of dollars on infant carriers, convertible car seats, and boosters. But what if you could buy one car seat that would fit your child for as long as they needed to be in a car seat?
Today we’ll look at Maxi-Cosi’s Pria 85 Max and how it is changing the way we approach car seat safety from 5 to 85 lbs.
You’re curious. You have always loved learning. Being a mom, especially to a demanding baby, can be mind numbing. Some days you go all day without an adult conversation, you watch more TV than you want, and you’re embarrassed about how much time you spend scrolling through social media feeds because all the baby wants to do is nurse. We’ve all been there. What happened to the woman who read interesting books and was always expanding her world view? Now all you think about is how much sleep you are not getting and you talk about poop more than you ever thought possible. Your brain feels like mush. It turns out there is a solution to “mom brain” that only requires a smart phone and 15 minutes a day. If you could continue learning and boost your brain power with your phone instead of letting social media suck the life out of you, wouldn’t you do it?

Finding ways to create less trash and provide a better environment we can all enjoy is a mission you may wish to challenge yourself to all year round. Less trash means healthier air, happier animals, and a stronger world for us all to enjoy. As a reminder of how important it is to live a sustainable lifestyle, April has been dubbed Earth Month, allowing us to encourage green living beyond a single day. In honor of the occasion we’ve decided to take on the #LessWasteChallenge to reduce 1 lb of waste per week with the help from our friends at Tom’s of Maine. Today we’ll be showcasing one of the ways we’re living out this challenge and mission of Earth Month by reusing items that may otherwise go to the landfill. Today we’ll be sharing how you can repurpose the packaging from your Tom’s of Maine toothpaste to create a trendy pencil holder for your desk or workspace. Why purchase an expensive piece of desk decor when you can make it yourself?
