On-Trend Makeup: Three For Summer

Summer is a season to decompress, relax, and enjoy all that warmer weather brings. Along those same lines, the on-trend makeup for summer is lighter in texture and stays set in the heat. Using more natural, longwearing products gives you better odds of keeping your best face forward as the day – and your makeup – wear on. Keep reading for more about on-trend cosmetics for this summer season.

Haven’t been able to make it to the beach for a vacay yet? No worries. Fake it with a gorgeous bronzer! The Celestial Bronzing Veil in Tropical Nights is infused with crystal pigments to give you the right amount of glimmer while keeping you matte. While many bronzers can give you a muddy cast, the pigmentation of this product will just leave you sun-kissed. Keep it simple and skip the blush for a true summer vibe. Prefer an all-matte bronzer? Try this one by Rimmel London.

Pro Tip: For the most well blended color, use a large, fluffy brush with soft hairs to swirl the bronzer over your nose, the tops of your cheekbones, and around your hairline.

Moisture Mist / Setting Spray

Pur Minerals Miracle Mist Hydrating Spray goes a long way toward putting on a smooth makeup application and keeping it that way. Mist this over your makeup brush or beauty blender prior to smoothing on your foundation, and then mist over your whole face and neck just after applying makeup. This beautifully extends the life of your makeup and keeps you from looking too cakey or powdery. Another great option for a moisture and misting spray is the Smashbox Primer Water. Especially during the summer months, when makeup trends are more dewy and luminous, these sprays work wonders!

Rose Gold Shadow

Whether you are cool- or warm-toned, there is nothing like a rose gold shade to compliment summer skin. Because rose gold combines warm and cool shades, this hue complements all eye colors. While matte shades were trending during the winter months, glimmer has reemerged for the summer. Try the Kevyn Aucoin loose shimmer shadow in Rose Quartz. For a breezy daytime look, loosely sweep the shadow over your entire eye, focusing on the lid area and just under the bottom lash line. Be sure to blend well to get a very diffused look. For darker skin tones, try a shade a bit deeper. We love NYX Loose Eye Shadow in Penny.

Pro Tip: Want to amp the pigment up? Try misting your setting spray on your shadow brush, pat your brush directly over shadow, and pack the lid area from lashline to socket only, for more dense pigmentation. Blend out with a clean brush along the socket and Voila! Summer nighttime drama.

Keep your summer bright and your makeup bronzy. Try these products and others, and remember that the key to a great summer cosmetic application is keeping things natural and sun touched, with a little fun!
