Soap-Free Skin Care Routine

So you’ve heard that soap might be drying out your skin and now you’re wondering – “what now?!”.

Great question AND one that took us years to find the answer. This might not be the answer for you, but here are the gems that we have found. We’re pretty sure you’ll fall in love.

Norwex

First, Norwex. Ever heard of it?

Here’s the breakdown: Norwex uses no chemicals – just its one of a kind microfiber that keeps destroying bacteria after you have set it down. The microsilver in each cloth will attract and trap dirt – even on your face. This one facial cloth will replace your cleanser, exfoliator, and makeup remover. One facial cloth – no chemicals.

Why worry about chemicals? Your skin is your largest organ, so anything you put on it is absorbed into your body. The majority of body products contain an assortment of chemicals, allergens, fragrances and preservatives that your skin soaks right up. Anything you can do to decrease that toxic load is beneficial for your body! Also, all those chemicals can actually dry out and damage your skin. Avoiding chemicals is better for you inside and out.

Sunscreen

Now to moisturize that beautiful, clean (chemical free) skin!

Everyone should be protecting her (or his) face from the sun’s powerful rays. You don’t want sun spots and wrinkles. So, put on some sunscreen! This sunscreen is awesome AND organic.

The one complaint we have is that it is a little thick, so try adding a tiny bit of coconut oil.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been used for its anti-aging properties and skin nourishing benefits in many different cultures throughout the years. Here are just some of the things we love about coconut oil:

  • Coconut oil is packed full of healthy fats which help to maintain the moisture content in your skin.
  • It also has antimicrobial and disinfecting properties that help protect against microbial infections.
  • Coconut oil is also full of proteins that promote healthy cellular growth and tissue repair.

Why shouldn’t we take advantage of that?!

Tallow and Shea Butter

These are two fantastic options that will nourish your skin at night. These are a bit heavier, so that is why they are recommended for night. These two products will replace any moisturizer, anti-aging cream, and collagen cream that you normally use at night.

1. Tallow

Tallow is very compatible with your skin and is also full of vitamins and nutrients that are not found in plant based oils (like coconut). Tallow is packed full of Vitamins A, K, E and D. Tallow melts into your skin without leaving a greasy residue. Tallow is also safe to eat, so you don’t have to worry about it absorbing into your body!

This tallow is truly magical. And the addition of skin nourishing essential oils that smell amazing is an added perk.

2. Shea butter

Shea butter has natural vitamins and fatty acids that your skin will love. Shea butter is full of Vitamins A and E, and also cinnamic acid which is an anti-inflammatory. This property can make it beneficial for some people with acne.

Shea butter contains linolenic, oleic, stearic and palmitic acids which nourish your skin and help keep it from drying out. Shea butter also promotes your skin’s natural collagen production AND offers some UV protection (SPF 6).

Now that you know the products, here’s the routine:

Morning:

Norwex Makeup Removal Cloth

Sunscreen + Coconut oil

Evening:

Norwex Makeup Removal Cloth

Tallow OR Shea butter

Easy as pie! And you’re on your way to beautiful, clear, and healthy skin. Be patient after you make changes to your skin care routine. It can take a little while for your skin to balance itself out – but the results are worth the wait!
