Today’s children are exposed to technology and media at a very early age as phones, computers, and iPads are often within children’s reach in the home. Raising children is a full time job. Raising children on top of holding down a part-time job (or jobs!) from home means life is often chaotic, stressful, extremely fast-paced, but all around rewarding. For some, holding down a side job while being a stay at home mom means bringing in extra income needed for day to day life. For others, it’s a form of holding onto one’s self – the part of yourself that holds onto childhood dreams, career aspirations, and passions outside the realm of child-rearing. It’s a part of how we stay whole, and albeit sometimes arguably, sane.
“Seriously, what are you looking at? Who are you talking to?”
“No one. I’m just on Facebook.”
“Facebook, Instagram. You’re always on there. I don’t see what could possibly be so entertaining.”
It’s true. I’m on my phone quite a bit. And in talking to my other mommy friends, so are they. In fact, I can see that they’re active on Facebook right now, or how long they’ve been inactive. I can tell that they were up with the baby at 4am or that it’s dinner time because social media is radio silence. So why are moms on their phones all the time? What exactly is your wife doing as she stares into that bright screen?

Our kids are heading back to school. For some of us, we’re sending our kids off to their very first year of kindergarten. While exciting, it’s also a bit nerve-wracking: Is she ready? Will he make friends? Will she enjoy school? Did we do enough to prepare him? For all your back to school worries, questioning whether you prepared your child enough doesn’t have to be one of them, thanks to Teach My Learning Kits!
Since its launch in March of 2013, we’ve welcomed many babies into our Daily Mom family. During our first year, there was one almost every single month. We actually have an ongoing joke that if you want to get pregnant, join the Daily Mom team! This summer we welcomed our newest Daily Kid to the family, after a 2 year baby drought.
Are you thinking about cloth diapering your new baby? Or, maybe you’re tired of buying boxes of expensive diapers only to see them go into the trash. Cloth diapers have made a huge comeback in recent years and for many reasons: they are environmentally friendly, relatively inexpensive, and chemical-free. They are also incredibly cute on a little baby bum and come in a variety of colors, patterns, and designs. While cloth diapers have their definite pros, any small amount of research will show you that it can easily become an overwhelming and sometimes confusing world of diapering, sending your mind in circles and wondering if you should make the leap. If you are considering cloth diapering, here are some simple things that any veteran cloth diapering mama will tell you to help you start and adjust to this new venture!
As a first time mom, you buy everything that your little one could possibly need. You have all the big ticket items – the car seat, the crib, a swing, a bouncer, and a stroller (or two). Now, fast forward and you are a mom of two or perhaps recently pregnant with your second child. Yes, you have everything that this next little baby could need except maybe one little item – a stroller that will fit both of your children. It can be a difficult process when you need to choose a double stroller. Well, look no further! We have found a stroller that not only holds two precious kids, but that you can easily do daily errands, day trips to museums or zoos, or even jog around the block in.
Did you know that newborns are obligate nasal breathers? Yes, infants breathe through their nose for the first 4-6 months, meaning any sort of congestion can really be troublesome. For this reason, and many more, we love the Personal Travel Humidifier by Crane!
Long gone are the days of baby registries that consisted of a stroller, a bassinet and some simple swaddles. Today, baby gear is innovative, modern and designed with a focus on quality, practicality, functionality, safety and style. And while it’s practical to receive a mountain of diapers at your baby shower, chances are they might not be the kind you plan on using for your baby. You might also find yourself swimming in piles of adorable newborn onesies, but what happens after your little one outgrows them in a month?
Having a preschool aged child can be so much fun, especially around the holidays. The world is a magical place to a young child, and you get to participate in that magic by playing Easter Bunny and filling up an amazing basket with things you know your child will love. Here are some of our favorite treats for preschoolers this year.
When designing your child’s nursery or big-kid room, there are only so many options. The big names in kid’s furniture all look the same (and can be a bit overpriced), while the less expensive (Swedish store with funny sounding named furniture) options are, well, a bit cheap.
Today we have the just-right option for you: new-to-the-US, Spanish-based Micuna.
