Keepsake Bins: Organizing Your Child’s School & Art Work

Masterpiece after masterpiece has been posted to your refrigerator door. Week 2 has arrived and it’s time to start organizing two major categories that some love and some hate: Food and Fitness. Summer is a great time to go through recipes and rework your meal planning strategy, so you’re all ready when school starts back up and family dinner nights can re-appear, but more organized and delicious than ever.

Sure, organizing the exercise part of your life probably should have happened months ago, unless you were on the ball and you’re already rocking your beach bikini body. But, it’s always a good idea to take a hard look at how you work out and hey, you may realize you need to tweak some parts of your routine or actually begin exercising for the first time in 10 years! There’s never a better time than now to start. So here we go.

It’s Week 4, which means we’ve made it to the end of January and the last week of the 31 Day Organization Challenge: House Edition! By now, most of your house should be clutter-free and more organized than it was a few weeks ago. Find a second wind and put that last burst of energy into this final week. We are about halfway through the month, and we’re sure this is becoming the longest, most exhausting, nitty-gritty month of work you’ve ever put into decluttering and organizing your house! We promise you it will be well worth it when you meet the finish line. And you’re almost there. So keep pushing up your sleeves, turn on some motivating tunes, and pick up the pace as we start tackling those bedrooms. Whether you have two or six, try to go through as many bedrooms as you can this week. Bonus points for giving your kids (if they’re old enough) the same printable list you’re following and let them take charge of their room. Go ahead and offer (or bribe) a sweet reward if they do a great job!

Congratulations on making it through Week 1! Whether you strictly stuck to the schedule and enjoyed every moment of the challenge or just begrudgingly did a couple days here and there while getting your toes wet, we hope you were able to clear out some clutter and better organize your kitchen space. This week we are focusing on the main living areas and the dining areas. This can look different for different houses and setups, so again, use this just as a guideline and customize it to your specific areas. For example, you may have a living room and family room or no dining room and just a breakfast area. It’s up to you to decide which areas you want to declutter and organize that generally fall into these two categories.

Managing Toy Clutter

Managing Toy Clutter

Blocks, toy cars, stuffed animals, balls, books, dolls, and lincoln logs are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the toys laying around every toddler-infested household. While the kids just love watching Thomas and his friends choo-choo their way through the living room, mom is trying to rack her brain with ways to make those trains magically disappear without a tantrum. We love to watch our kids enjoy the toys that they have been blessed with. We just don’t love seeing our oriental rug buried beneath a train track and a tea party. Here are some mom-friendly and toddler-friendly ways to manage and conceal that toy clutter.
