4 Things You Need to Know Before Visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a Preschooler

As the weather warms and the breezes blow Spring Break and Summer vacation are just around the corner for families across the country. What better way to emerge from the ‘polar vortex’ than with a trip to the most magical place on earth – the Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida. With warm weather and sunny skies year-round, there is no better way to beat the winter blues than a trip to this entertaining, beautiful, family friendly city. From the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there is plenty to entertain the whole family this season.

When planning your family vacation to Florida this year, plan a special trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a fun, engaging, interactive time for your youngest to your oldest visitors. Disney has found a way to provide a magical experience for everyone from preschoolers to grandparents alike. The younger generation takes in the sites with their child-like fascination in the colors, sights and sounds, while the older generation is given an opportunity to reminisce in the nostalgia of their younger years.

While everyone is familiar with the Magic Kingdom don’t limit yourself this year and make sure to explore all of Disney’s other parks within Walt Disney World’s Orlando Resort. From the twinkling lights of Cinderella’s castle to the terrifying hotel from the Twilight Zone, your preschoolers and older children are all sure to experience a lifetime worth of thrills and fun at these entertainment-filled parks.

Here are 4 things you need to know before you go:

Disney Hollywood Studios Hours

Disney Hollywood Studios hours of operation run from 9am to 8pm every day of the week. With shorter wait times than the Magic Kingdom and tons of shows featuring your favorite Disney characters, this is the perfect park for a relaxing, stress-free day of your vacation. When traveling with a preschooler there are two easy options with this park, either arriving early before nap time, or taking it all in one leisurely afternoon. Since much of Hollywood Studios features live, open, outdoor performances you and your preschooler can wile the day away watching and interacting with their favorite friends. There are not long wait times as the these theaters are rather large and you simply seat yourself.

Disney Hollywood Studios Rides

Disney’s Hollywood Studios certainly isn’t remiss in their ride opportunities either. While the older children and adults will love the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and AeroSmith’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the little ones will never want to leave the new Toy Story Land where a they are immediately greeted by a larger-than-life Woody, life size toy soldiers, and the zip-zooming Slinky Dog Dash Coaster. Additional rides include the Alien Swirling Saucers, Star Tours – The Adventure Continues, and Toy Story Mania. Running the full duration of the Disney Hollywood Studios hours, the rides are open the entire time the park is open too.

Disney Hollywood Studios Food

Disney Hollywood Studios is not your typical park fare. Offering some of the freshest All-American cuisine around, you can grab a fresh and delicious snack, lunch, or dinner from any of the Hollywood Studios restaurants. From real chicken nuggets and tasty fries to delectable burgers, salads, and specialties, there is something for everyone. With lots of shaded, outdoor open air seating, spend the afternoon perched on ‘Sunset Boulevard’ eating lunch, sipping a cold soda or beer, and people watching, because there is plenty to see here. Depending on whether you plan to spend breakfast, lunch or dinner at the park, check the restaurant hours if there is a certain place you wish to eat as all the eateries are not open the full Disney Hollywood Studios hours and most are only open for lunch and dinner beginning around 11:30am.

Disney Hollywood Studios Shows

The best part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios are the shows! From Star Wars to Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid to Indiana Jones, the shows are what this park is all about. Go ‘behind the scenes’ with some of your favorite characters; dance, sing, and interact with all your child’s favorite entertainers. These shows play at select times throughout the day, usually beginning around 10am and ending by 6pm, so check the Disney Hollywood Studios hours for individual times.

Brand new to the Hollywood studios scene is the Disney Jr. DJ Disco Party full of friends like Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, the Lion Guard, and Mickey and the Roadster Racers. Relax and sing along as your child jams out at a disco party just for them! This interactive song and dance show will get your little ones up, jumping, and jiving to the tune of their favorite songs. Your preschooler is to love the DJ shuffle experience so much he or she will come home begging for their own set of headphones and sound equipment guaranteed. From catchy tunes to a cool laser light show, and even snow, your preschooler will love this experience geared to their age group and interests.
