A major perk to being married to the military is moving to exciting new places and diving into new career opportunities. But with those opportunities come the major stress of finding a house and a new job. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way to have both? MilHousing Network is your solution! They connect you to military real estate experts across the country and create military spouse employment opportunities. It’s the best of both worlds.
Military spouse Rosalind Heaney, explains what MilHousing Network is all about and what it’s like to help military families across the nation find (and sell) their homes, as MilHousing Network’s program director.
A Matchmaker for Your Home
Daily Mom Military (DMM): What’s MilHousing Network all about?
Rosalind Heaney (RH): It’s a program that helps military families PCS better! We connect families with military-expert realtors when they are looking to buy or sell a home. Every home sold within our network provides a job opportunity for a military spouse.
DMM: As program director, what do you do?
RH: I assist with training and lead a team of mentors (sharing more ways to add value to our community), as well as connect military families with agents around the nation.
DMM: Why did you decide to join the team?
RH: Because of their mission: to help military families PCS better and to create jobs for military spouses! Being a military spouse (and Army brat) myself, I know that our time in one location typically won’t be any longer than a couple of years. Many companies are hesitant about hiring spouses because they know at some point we will have to move. Every home that is sold within our network creates a work-from-home job for our fellow spouses.
Moving is never easy, and finding a home is one of the most stressful parts of it all. MilHousing Network realtors are knowledgeable and genuine; and they, along with our CEO and co-founder, Lindsey Litton, want nothing more than for families to have a positive PCS experience.
DMM: What kind of services are provided?
RH: Home buying or selling, tips and tricks on PCSing, information about a specific area, and career opportunities for military spouses, along with resources that help families move better. We also have a MilHousing Nation Podcast that discusses what it is really like to move with the military, as well as tips, tricks, and actionable steps.
DMM: What kind of career positions are available?
RH: Brand ambassadors, real estate careers, and work-from-home positions
Brand ambassadors mentor and work alongside fellow military spouses to help them have better a better PCS experience. Real estate careers include real estate agents, buyer agent positions, and intern positions. Work-from-home positions encompass outbound sales associate and inbound sales associate.

DMM: If a fellow military spouse wants to join, what should they do?
RH: Check out our website, milhousingnetwork.com!
Military Spouse Employment
DMM: What does a typical work day look like for you, and how do you manage with kids?
RH: I have a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old, so I get work done before my kids wake up, during nap time, and after my kids are in bed. I search through Facebook to find families who are in need of any assistance when they are PCSing to a new location. MilHousing Network is very kid-friendly! Little ones are always welcome to be around, even on our weekly huddles (video conference calls).
If you are looking for a home or a new employment opportunity, MilHousing Network may be just what you’re looking for!
