In-Home Postpartum Care Services for New Mom and Baby

Before you read this, keep in mind that if you are a first-time mom (or even if you have an older child) postpartum is no joke.  You know what to expect after chatting with friends, reading all the books, and being part of all the online groups.  However, nothing can prepare you for the undertaking of a tiny, helpless person whom you just met and need to learn how to read and take care of.  By setting up in-home services in advance you are only going to help yourself, and your family, trust us you will thank your former pregnant self ten times over for the in-home services that you set up!

Postpartum Doula & Live-In Newborn Care Specialist

Think of a postpartum doula as your new best friend.  The person who will be able to handle your baby like a grandma, have the skills of a mom who has 100 kids, and the energy you wish you had.  This is one of the in-home services that might seem extravagant to some, but there is no price tag on help, getting the rest you need, and mental health support during this time. There are two ways this in-home service can go-daytime postpartum doula help or overnight postpartum doula.  A daytime postpartum doula will help with the baby, do light housework, feed the baby, and give you a chance to shower, rest, and take a mental break from the baby.

A night postpartum doula is a dream come true, that will help you while you are getting much-needed zzz’s.  She will come before the baby’s bedtime, do the final feed (or wait till you nurse her), and get her down for the night.  If you are nursing she will only bring your baby to you to nurse and then she will change, burp her, and get her down accordingly.  If you are formula or bottle feeding then you get to sleep through the night (unless you have to pump) without worrying about tending to the baby.  Regardless being able to not worry about rocking, changing, and getting the baby down really helps you get the “extra” rest your body needs.

Knowing that baby care doesn’t 100% have to fall on her shoulders and she too can get a (almost) full night’s sleep even while breastfeeding will instantly help a new mom feel better. These health professionals provide a service that is one of the best gifts you can ever give a new mom. Help for first-time moms is giving them someone who can almost do what they need to do every day for their new bundle of joy.

The Best Support for Every First-Time Mom

Having a newborn and being home all day, can be one of the loneliest times for a new mom.  Despite being needed nonstop and having another tiny person at home, it can be a very lonely time for most new moms.  This is one of the in-home services that gets overlooked because most new moms think they will be busy nonstop with visitors, friends coming to stop by, and family helping to take care of the baby more than they want.

Eventually, usually within a few weeks, the visitors taper off, husbands go to work, and it is just you and your new baby home alone all day.  This is when the lonely time can start when you have no one to talk to, have a tiny human relying solely on you to keep alive, healthy, and happy when you barely have time to take a decent shower.  Having someone come over to just sit, chat with you, and be able to make you feel as if you are part of a bigger world than just inside your home is worth its weight in gold.

Laundry Service

Laundry for days will have a whole new meeting once you have a little person who will go through more outfits in a day than you will go through in a week.  Nope, that’s not a joke either!  In-home services laundry will save you time, energy, and most importantly, your sanity.  Being able to outsource a never-ending chore will give you precious time with your little one.  They are much needed when they blow through multiple outfits most days of the week.

Help Mom With a Lactation Consultant

15 In-Home Services That Help New Moms

If you plan to breastfeed, you need to be prepared that it might not be as “easy” right off the bat as you think it will be.  Breastfeeding is one of the most instinctual things a mother and new baby will do, however, it can take practice for both mommy and baby to get the hang of it.  A location consultant is one of the in-home services that is needed by most new moms. If you are having any trouble nursing your baby, reach out to a lactation consultant to help get you and your baby on the right track.

Often moms will quickly switch to baby formula when the going gets tough with breastfeeding. It is an “easy” switch but long term the health and wellness of your newborn may be better if you are able to breastfeed as long as possible. A lactation consultant can be a godsend for a new mom. Assistance for new moms while breastfeeding is actually quite common. This along with other support services for new mothers is very important because even though breastfeeding is natural it does not always come easy to new moms (especially a sleep-deprived mama!) and babies, with a little extra support both mom and baby will be better off.

Making sure Her Health and Mental Wellness is Strong

This is one of the in-home services that should not be overlooked.  Sadly postpartum women do not get the follow-up care from health care providers that they should.  Babies have at least 6 check-ups during the first year of their life and a new mother only has one.  Postpartum recovery and caring for a newborn can take a surprising toll on your mental health.

You might think you are fine and postpartum anxiety or depression can come out of nowhere, or you may not even realize you have anything.  There is a difference between these mental health issues and normal baby blues, please consult a professional if you have any thoughts, feelings, or actions that are not normal for you.  In-home services can support your mental health which can be very fragile right now.

Subscription boxes can be a convenient way for new moms to access necessary baby items without having to go to the store. These boxes often contain surprises and pampering gifts for new moms, promoting wellness and self-care. Subscribing to these boxes can help new moms feel supported and cared for during the challenging early days of motherhood.

There are so many subscription boxes on the market these days and maybe you haven’t had a need for one.  Now is the perfect time to try out a subscription box that is dedicated to a new mom or baby.  As you go through your postpartum and your new baby develops these boxes match each phase of this special time.  In-home services that are delivered right to your door and can be enjoyed while you and baby are both in your pj’s and the shipment comes right to the front door.

15 In-Home Services That Help New Moms

Date nights will go so quickly out the window after your bundle of joy arrives for a variety of reasons. However, that does not mean that you should completely forgo date nights.  In-home date nights will be your new favorite way to not only connect with your partner but to have some much-needed baby-free downtime.  Not always an easy feat to schedule a date night and that is where date night boxes come in handy.  An essential of the in-home services that will help keep relationships strong and at the forefront of your mind without having to leave your house or even think about what to do.

How to Pamper Mom

Clothing rental services are one of our favorite indulgent in-home services, by now you know that your body has the capability to change so much in a very short period of time.  By the time the baby arrives, you have probably had to get multiple sizes of clothes to fit your ever-changing body from underwear to pants and maybe even shoes. At the same time that doesn’t mean that any of those clothes will fit you postpartum.

Even after the baby arrives you will have to accommodate your body as it slowly shifts back to its pre-pregnancy self, which may or may not look the same, especially if you are breastfeeding your chest size and therefore top size will fluctuate.  During this time I was able to have to not buy new clothes but rent them, without having to worry about leaving the house. Leaving the house with a newborn can be stressful for new moms and not the same experience as it once was which can leave an unpleasant taste in moms’ mouths for future trips out.
