About  Joovy:

Joovy is an American based company that strives to use high-quality, boldly-colored fabrics, and offers premium features at affordable prices. If you are concerned about the toxic chemicals laced in many baby products on the market today, you can rest assured knowing that Joovy is proud of never using any PVC, phthalates, BPA, or flame retardants. With Joovy, customers come first because they are a family-based business who, in turn, treats their customers like they are part of the Joovy family.

Our favorite features:

  • 20% lighter than the regular Caboose model, and weighs in at only 21 pounds, or 23 pounds with the optional “Too” seat attached.
  • Linked parking brakes (tap one button and lock the wheels on both sides!) ball-bearing wheels, and all-wheel suspension.
  • Front seat has three reclining options, as well as an adjustable footrest, and is acceptable to use from ages 3 months and up.
  • Both seats feature an adjustable 5-point harness system.
  • It can accommodate a combined weight of 90 pounds.
  • Large storage basket with handy outside pockets to stash items that you may need to get to more regularly.
  • Handlebars are 41.5 inches tall, so it’s very comfortable for everyone to push – especially taller parents!

The Sit and Stand Stroller You Need

The Removable Back “Too” Seat Option:

Stroller Guide: Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight 3 Daily Mom, Magazine For Families

If you have children who are closer together in age, and want the option of having an actual seat for your older child to utilize, the “Too” seat is the perfect solution. It is lightweight, and easy to attach and remove. It can also easily be stowed in the undercarriage basket for convenience when you may need it. The backseat has two recline options, and the large canopy easily stretches all the way back to completely cover the backseat, as well as the front. The backseat can be utilized for children starting at age 6 months and up to to 45 pounds.

It’s important to note that when the Too seat is attached, the storage basket transforms into a place where the child’s feet will go. You will not be able to access it easily, so getting something like a Mommy Hook to hang your diaper bag on is a useful tip.  The side basket pockets remain a convenient storage place for extra diapers, wet bags, and other important items when the Too seat is attached.

The Back “Jump Seat” Option:

Once your child outgrows the need for a seat, and wishes to be a bit more mobile, the backseat can be removed effortlessly and turn into a bench type “jump-seat” which also has a three point harness to secure your tot comfortably. Having this option is amazing for a wiggly child who isn’t content with sitting in a stroller for an extended period of time, and wants the freedom to get up easily. This is also a lifesaver for children that may tire easily of walking and standing but still wish to have their big-kid independence.

The Back “Standing Platform” Option:

Anyone who has a toddler or preschool-aged child knows that having options and being flexible is incredibly important – especially when you are away from home.  The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight offers yet another option for parents of older children: sturdy and padded handlebars are installed, along with a plastic platform that children will love standing on. You will be amazed at how long you will be able to use this feature! A typical 5-year-old still fits within the weight and sizing category of configuration (45 pounds maximum for standing on the platform). If you need to get somewhere quickly, or want to keep a closer eye on your child in a busy location without the possibility of them wandering off or getting separated from you, the back platform is an easy solution.

The Universal Infant Seat Adapter:

The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight can be used from birth and beyond. The Caboose Too Ultralight has a removable front snack tray that can be switched out with the universal carseat adapter. To use the carseat adapter, you recline the front seat to the second position, and place the infant seat on top of the adapter. Unfold the carseat straps from their special compartment on the side of the front seat, and snap the strap easily and securely in place. In this position, another child can ride comfortably in the back in either the Too seat, or use the bench or platform. The large sun canopy once again proves to be extremely useful to shelter your small child from the sun.

Once your child has hit 3 months of age, you have the option to place them in the front seat sans the infant carseat adapter. When they have reached that milestone, you can prop up the footrest to make it more comfortable for them, and re-attach the snack tray.  The snack tray and the carseat adapter are compact and easily interchanged, so keeping them both in your vehicle is feasible, and allows you to modify the stroller as needed on-the-go.

The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight also comes with a parent organizer, allowing you to store such items as car keys in the zippered pouch, and a cell phone up front, as well as two drinks or sippy cups. The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight also folds down very easily, and can be stowed compactly to fit in smaller vehicles. Once again, lifting a 21-pound stroller is an easy task for most parents meaning no muscle training is required to move your stroller in and out of your car.

From One Mom To Another:

Looking for double strollers can be a daunting task. I wanted something that was a “one stop shop” stroller, that would last in my family for the long haul. I knew I wanted something easy to maneuver, and lightweight, because juggling multiple children can be tricky enough. My children will be 25 months apart from each other, so having an optional backseat to restrain my young toddler was key, as well as being able to fit through standard sized doors, and through aisles in a store. Basically, I didn’t want to push a massive stroller around wherever I went. The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight fits my needs and desires, and my husband is thrilled that we only have to have one stroller, because this one truly does it all and it’s super affordable! It fits easily into my small SUV, and the handlebar height is an added bonus to me, since I am over 6 feet tall. I can’t wait to utilize this stroller on a daily basis once my son arrives in less than three months, and my daughter absolutely loves riding in the Joovy already!

  1. Marta,
Contact the Joovy website and they can direct you- I always suggest amazon but am not sure if amazon exists outside of the US & Canada.

  2. Hi Megan,

Have you had any issues with baby #1 being squished in the back because the front seat doesn’t incline all the way up? I saw some complaints about this on Amazon for the newer model, though I’m not sure when you bought yours.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi Heather!
I have a very tall (now) three year old daughter. When her brother was born, she was 25 months, and she fit great in the back seat. She can still ride back there with the TOO seat, but there isn’t a ton of room. Personally, I’d say the TOO backseat is perfect for kids under the age of 3.

However, she LOVES the jumpseat option, so it is a great stroller that grows with your family. I didn’t “trust” her back there when he was a new baby, so the removable seat was perfect for her then, and the jumpseat is what she prefers now.

Now that he’s 16 months and weighs about the same as her, I prefer to put him in the backseat if we’re going the distance, and he’s got plenty of room.
    Hope that helps!

  4. Hi,
I’ve read that the stroller was hard to drive, the the front wheels were always blocking and spinning the wrong way. How do you feel about it?

  5. Hi Alex,
Not at all! It’s super easy to push! It’s actually easier than my single stroller, and it glides really well. Maybe the person put the wheels on incorrectly?
