When you first arrive at Tanque Verde Ranch on your destination vacation the landscape will enthrall you. Different from so many other places you may have traveled, the Sonoran Desert surrounding the ranch and the Saguaro National Park itself ensconces you in cacti and dry desert landscape below, while the lush and verdant Rincon Mountain range rises above. The contrast between these two abutting landscapes is a sight to be seen. These Tanque Verde Ranch photos may just make you start planning your next vacation to Arizona sooner rather than later.

Upon arrival and check in you will be welcomed in the main area of the ranch where the stables, dining hall, some guest rooms, gift shop, nature center and other main buildings are located. There is a large grassy courtyard here where kids can run and play in the soft grass while watching the horses or simply sit and enjoy the shade.
On the way to your room you may pass through the large interior cactus garden. Full of a wide variety of different species of plants, you will see cacti in all shades of greens, purples, some growing fruit and others featuring flowers in full bloom.
Once in your well-appointed room, depending on your location, you will have magnificent views of the property and Sonoran desert surrounding you through the large windows outfitting all the rooms, letting the desert sunshine in.
When you head out to find the pool, you will find it centrally located, adjacent to the main dining hall. It is also adjoining the fitness center, indoor pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, and La Sonora Spa. The Doghouse Saloon is also located just a short walk away. All day (and all night) the outer dining room features snacks, and drinks to include coffee, tea, waters and juices that you can grab on the go.
The Nature Center is home to many native species such as rattlesnakes, scorpions and tarantulas that you can visit and learn about from one of the knowledgeable staff. You can also sign up for the desert photography stroll here, along with classes about rattlesnakes, birds of the desert, food and pharmacy of the desert and more. The business center is also located next to the Nature Center and offers large conference rooms for business retreats. In back of the Nature Center is an overlook where you can see some pretty phenomenal views of the desert and get some amazing Tanque Verde Ranch photos.
The evening views at Tanque Verde Ranch are stunning. Whether you are heading out on a sunset horseback ride, heading to the Cottonwood Grove for a cookout, or simply strolling the property and visiting the horses, the sun setting in the desert sky is a sight to be seen.
Tanque Verde Ranch Horses
The main event here at Tanque Verde Ranch is obviously the horses, and they do not disappoint. Friendly and cooperative, these gentle giants are always up for a ride, and even love hanging out in the corral where they will whiny at you for a pet as you walk by.
The Kids Club is available 7 days a week for children ages 4-12. The younger riders will stay in the ring for their time on the horses, while the older kids will head out on the trails winding through the desert property. Long pants and closed toed shoes are required for riding, and helmets will be provided as they are required for children riding as well.
Between rides, Wrangler’s Roost has comfy seating and table games to entertain even the youngest cowboys. With safety being a top priority at Tanque Verde Ranch, horseback riding checks and lessons are readily available and their well trained wranglers are there to help you learn to ride comfortably for an enjoyable experience.
When visiting Tanque Verde Ranch watching the horses being let out of the corral to eat at the end of a long day is a must see. The clock at the front of the corral tells you what time they are let out each evening as it varies so make sure to check daily.
The Old Homestead and the Cottonwood Grove
The Old Homestead can be explored on a short hike, or you can head up there for an outdoor cowboy breakfast of blueberry pancakes, ranch potatoes, eggs, sausage and more twice a week. On breakfast mornings you can head up to the Old Homestead on a guided hike, horseback, mountain bike, or even grab a ride in a golf cart with the ranch’s friendly staff.
The Cowboy Cookout in the Cottonwood Grove is a fun family experience. With an incredible buffet spread, live entertainment and games such as lassoing, horse shoes and more, kids and adults alike will love an evening spent under the desert stars eating a delicious dinner. Accessible by a short walk from your accommodations, or a golf cart ride, this is a must when visiting the ranch. On your way back to your room keep your eyes open because you are sure to see some desert wildlife such as jack rabbits, road runners, and even javelinas as the sun sets over Tanque Verde Ranch.
