This pretty, dessert-looking cup is as easy as throwing three simple ingredients together.

  • Yogurt
  • Granola
  • Strawberries

Buy vanilla and a “pink” yogurt, like strawberry or raspberry, and layer the yogurt with granola and fresh cut strawberries or raspberries. Use Greek yogurt for an added protein punch. Layer your ingredients in a clear cup and if you want to get extra fancy, sprinkle some Valentine’s sprinkles on top and add a heart on a toothpick.

Think red and pink and hearts and you can make anything have a Valentine’s Day twist! Create a pretty fruit and veggie platter by strategically placing your ingredients in heart shapes. Red bell pepper is perfect for this! In terms of fruit, serve raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, or purple grapes in Valentine themed cupcake liners. It’s all about presentation here!

Baggie Butterflies

Take the Pinterest-popular baggie butterfly snack idea and put a Valentine’s Day twist on it by using red or pink pipe cleaner for the antennas and a marker to draw on some hearts and a cute face. You can fill your baggies with whatever healthy snack you’d like. These would make a great surprise to sneak in your child’s school lunch! Here’s what you do to make these cute little guys:

Supplies:

  • Zippered sandwich bags
  • Clothes pins
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Markers (we used Sharpies)

Open up a sandwich bag and use your middle and index finger to “scissor” off the middle of the bag. This way you can fill each side with something different if you choose. Once your sides are about 2/3 full, close the zipper and twist the center of your bag to create the two wings. Hold the twist in place with a decorated clothes pin. Add some pipe cleaner antennas to finish off your butterfly.

A great investment to make when you have kids is to stock up on a variety of fun shaped cookie cutters. Boring everyday foods can be made into something magical when presented in a kid-friendly shape. For this Valentine’s Day meat, cheese, and cracker platter we used these adorable mini Valentine cookie cutters from Wilton.

Take slices of your kiddo’s favorite cheese and meat and cut them into cute shapes like hearts and X’s and O’s. For an added touch of cuteness, we bought butterfly shaped crackers by Pepperidge Farm.

PB&J Bites

Here’s another simple snack with an added Valentine’s Day twist thanks to a mini heart cookie cutter and some paper hearts on toothpicks. Whip up your standard peanut butter and jelly sandwich and cut it into several bite-sized shapes. Serve as is, or top with a raspberry or strawberry and a Valentine’s toothpick.

With a tiny bit of added effort on your part, you can make this Valentine’s Day one your child will never forget!
