Halloween is just around the corner and there are dozens of adorable options for dressing the crew [and yourself] for the celebration. Planning ahead will help you be prepared for any changes that might come up with your plans or the weather leading into the holiday. For store bought costumes, order online at least 3 weeks in advance or visit your local costume shop early in the month to ensure the best selection.
If you want to DIY a costume, make sure to plan plenty of time to ensure that you aren’t up at midnight on October 30th with a hot glue gun and a stack of felt.

1. Cat in the Hat
A childhood classic, Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat, is a recognizable character that will delight both kids and parents alike. With just a few steps you can pull together this iconic costume, and if you are dressing more than one sibling you may want to add in ‘Thing 1’ and ‘Thing 2’ to complete the look.
2. Scuba Diver
With some spray paint and a few recycled bottles you can craft an adorable diver costume for your little adventurer. Siblings can join in on the fun as the rest of the cast of Finding Nemo!
3. Greek Goddess
With just a sheet and some gold bric brac, your little girl will sparkle with mystery and lore of Greek Mythology. Give her a book of myths and let her decide what goddess she wants to call herself.
4. Owl
This no sew costume can come together in just a few minutes with a few sheets of felt and a glue gun. With a knit cap as the owl’s eyes, this costume is perfect for any weather and prevents blocking sight while trick-or-treating. For little ones who are not yet on the move, this S’mores costume is the perfect solution. Using velcro, cardboard and a onesie you can craft a quick costume that will make your sweetness the delight of the party.

10. Family Paw Patrol
You (and your kiddos) already know the theme song so why not make Halloween a family affair and dress the entire family in the recognizable character’s attire! This tutorial requires a small amount of sewing so be sure to plan accordingly when preparing for trick-or-treating.
