There are three floors, each with its own historical concept: The Colonial Floor, the Republican Floor, and the Contemporary Floor. Each room is designed with this historical time period in mind. While visiting their small shop you’ll be able to try a sampling of many different kinds of honey as well as make your own natural soap. We loved the natural honey-based makeup and can’t wait to return to buy some more.
Woodworker
This local woodworker has made beautiful intricate wood boxes for famous people all over the world including the Pope. Each hand-made chest is a series of boxes placed together like a puzzle. Many have hidden compartments for the intention of hiding your valuables inside. You’ll have a chance to try out the techniques he uses to create his works of art. However, you’ll have to stick around all week just to finish one small creation, so don’t plan on making one to take home! Most of his projects are special order from his clients, but he does have a few available in his shop for purchase. We had a chance to test out some of his tools and techniques to see how precise his work has to be.
Ice Cream Shop
Heladería Dulce Placer is a famous ice cream shop with our favorite ice cream flavor, Caca de Pero, which literally translates into Dog S^*t. You can visit for some amazing flavors and a nice laugh.
Chocolate Making
Become a chocolatier at Pacari and try your hand at making your own chocolate. You’ll get to make truffle chocolate from scratch by mixing the ingredients by hand. Choose from a variety of natural flavors to add to your hand-rolled chocolate truffles and create your own unique treats. They also offer a wide variety of Ecuadorian chocolate bars and other products at a very reasonable price.
