Essential Oils for Your Face: When and How to Use Them

Recently people have been turning to more natural products to aid in their beauty routines. They no longer want the chemicals and preservatives that are bad for their skin, but would rather use things that are commonly found in nature. Essential oils have become more and more popular in the beauty arena as beauty buffs not only see the health benefits of using something that has less chemicals but also see the restorative properties that many of these essential oils carry.

Below is a list of essential oils for your face that are a perfect addition to your beauty routine along with a DIY facial oil that will make you feel like you just spent a day at the spa.

For centuries women have been searching for the perfect things to help combat aging, fine lines, discoloration, or imperfect skin imbalances. Essential oils can not only help to fight specific issues, but they also provide a natural way to heal, protect, and restore your skin. You facial skin is one of the most sensitive areas of your body and undoubtedly the one that people see the most. It is important to keep it hydrated and moisturized, and the following combination of essential oils can help to do that.

Essential Oils for Your Face

Many people have moved to essential oils for their face. There are several essential oils that can be used to help with aging, discoloration, hydration, and fine lines such as Rosehip, Carrot Seed, Lemon, Bergamot, Geranium, Chamomile, and Lavender. Below is a description of each oil and how it can help you with your skincare and beauty routine:

Eden's Garden Rosehip

Rosehip is known as a base oil or a carrier oil, meaning it is the primary oil used in many recipes to help dilute other essential oils. Rosehip oil is a skin’s best friend. It boasts a fatty acid profile geared toward regenerative capabilities, packing its therapeutic properties in with significant amounts of alpha-linoleic and linoleic acids. This allows your skin to be restored and rejuvenated, naturally and safely using organic compounds found in nature.

Carrot Seed

Carrot seed is a popular oil that is often used alone but is frequently used in combination with many other oils because of its wide range of healing properties. It offers antiseptic, diuretic, carminative, and vermifuge properties and is said to help with aging as it keeps the skin hydrated. Carrot seed oil helps to tone the skin because it contains powerful detoxifying and antioxidant properties that help trigger the production of collagen and blood circulation.

Lemon oil is known as a cleansing oil. It is often used when making natural cleaning products, but for your skin it can help open pores to cleanse and refresh its natural properties. It is good for oily and acne prone skin, and can help tone and restore your skin to make for a natural glow.

Bergamot is a citrusy essential oil that is derived from a specific species of orange in Italy. It helps to significantly reduce inflammation on the skin when used properly which can help with redness, discoloration, and other skin issues that can make you look anything but glowing and restful.

Geranium is another common oil that is often included in recipes with other oils to combat specific issues. You won’t be disappointed by the way it smells with it’s rosy scent. It is often used for cleaning wounds but it also helps with its astringent and tonic properties, giving your skin a healthy glow. It is perfect for dry, aging skin that needs additional hydration and balance.

Eden's Garden Lavender

Lavender is another very commonly used essential oil. Its rich scent is familiar to most, and it gives a very calming aroma to those who are using it. It is often used for times of restlessness or for relaxation. It is antiseptic and toning, and can help those with acne-prone skin as it is not oily and won’t clog pores.

Chamomile is a soothing essential oil that gives a calming effect when used. Its rich fruity and sweet flavor gives it a pleasant scent. It has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to be effective as a topical agent. It can be used to treat rashes, acne, inflammation, eczema, dermatitis, dry and itchy skin. It can be used by all skin types.

DIY Facial Oil

With these essential oils combined you can create your own spa-like facial oil at home. These oils combined are great for any skin type and will leave your skin feeling refreshed, moisturized, hydrated, and glowing.

Using a dark amber bottle, combine carrier oils and essential oils. Store in a cool, dry place. Use on your skin after cleansing both morning and night, or as directed by your doctor. Allow oils to completely absorb into your skin before applying makeup or any other topical agents.

Essential oils are used every day to alleviate common health and wellness concerns. From headaches to itchy skin, essential oils can help a person feel better more naturally. There are thousands of different combinations of essential oils that can be used for different ailments. However, they should only be used as directed, never ingested, and often diluted. Also, consult your doctor before the use of essential oils and test a small area of skin before using exclusively to ensure no reactions occur.
