Are you looking for a quick and easy way to decorate your table for the holidays? We put together a simple DIY craft using materials you can find in your house that will help bring some color to your table this season.
DIY Yarn-Wrapped Stick Centerpiece
Materials:
- Yarn: Use any scraps you have around your house. Worsted weight or thicker will save you some time.
- Sticks: Collect these from your yard. Bring the vase or jar you plan to put them into with you so you can be sure the sticks and branches you choose are tall enough.
- Glue Gun
- Scissors
Start wrapping your sticks by first starting about an inch or two from the bottom, glue a bit of your yarn, then move to the bottom and wrap toward the top. This will cover the end of your yarn since you will be wrapping over top of it.
If you want to try a striped look (which also goes much faster since you are using two strings at once), simply hold the two colors together. Twist the stick instead of your yarn to prevent your strings from getting tangled.
When you get to the top of your stick glue down your ends. Alternately, if you wrap the yarn loose enough you can thread your yarn on a tapestry needle to thread back under some of the yarn and hide the end.
We love a good ombre but then again, who doesn’t?!
