How to Get Radiant Skin Naturally

Everyone wants to have gorgeous, glowing skin. While there are plenty of skincare products out there that claim to deliver radiant skin, you can achieve some pretty gorgeous skin without a bunch of expensive products. The truth of the matter is that radiant skin is healthy skin. If you follow some simple tips and take steps to care for your skin, you can get beautiful, radiant skin naturally in no time.

Tips for Radiant Skin

The healthier your skin, the more glowing and radiant it will look. Being overly stressed and not getting enough sleep are two major opponents to radiant skin. It is impossible not to encounter stress and there will always be a few late or sleepless nights but it is important when thinking about your skincare to keep those two things in mind. Taking care of your mind and body are the first steps to radiant skin.

After that, it is about protecting your skin and helping to repair the damage inflicted on your skin by everyday life. Keep the following 6 tips in mind when thinking about your skincare and you will be on the path towards beautiful, radiant skin.

Drink Lots of Water.

Hydration is key to radiant skin. Your skin needs to receive enough water to be hydrated, soft, and supple. Water helps maintain your skin’s elasticity. Without enough water, skin becomes dull and dry. People who drink plenty of water are also less likely to show as many signs of aging.

The amount of water you need to drink varies based on your weight and biological sex. In general, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine suggests that women should get about 2.7 liters, or 11 cups, of fluid each day while men should get about 3.7 liters or 16 cups. Not all of that fluid has to be water though. Other beverages and the fluid in whole, nutrient-rich foods count towards that intake as well.

Wear Sunscreen Regularly.

Always wear good quality sunscreen when you go outdoors (so pretty much every day). Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are ultraviolet rays that are responsible for producing sunburn while UVA rays penetrate more deeply into the skin and play a big role in premature aging such as wrinkle formation.

There are UVA and UVB rays coming from the sun no matter what season it is, so it is important to use sunscreen not only in summer but all year if you want to keep that radiant skin. This will help reduce premature aging caused by sun damage, keeping your skin looking youthful and radiant.

Wash Your Face.

Regularly washing your face helps to get rid of the dirt, makeup, excess oil, pollution, and unwanted skin cells that settle onto your skin throughout the day. You do not need anything fancy or super expensive, but you should be sure to use a face wash over just any old bar of soap. Soaps that are not made especially for your face often contain harsh chemicals that can make your skin dry and brittle. That will completely undo any moisturizing you are doing, keeping you in a constant loop of combatting the dry skin that you are creating yourself.

Be sure to get in the habit of washing your face both in the morning and at night. In the morning, you are washing off any dead skin cells and oils that accumulated on your skin overnight. At the end of the day, you want to make sure that all of the gross stuff that accumulates on your skin throughout the day is washed off before you go to bed. This helps prevent breakouts and visible aging due to dehydrated skin.

Moisturize Your Skin.

Moisturizing your face helps your skin look and feel younger. That is because regularly moisturizing the skin on your face and neck helps your skin maintain the right balance. It hydrates skin from the outside and helps keep it from becoming dry or oily, both of which lead to dull-looking skin. It also helps protect and repair your skin after being exposed to all the things in the environment that damage it. Regularly moisturizing, like on the daily, will leave you with softer, more radiant skin.

When is the best time to moisturize? Do it right after you have washed your face, so once in the morning and again at night. Applying moisturizer after washing your face helps lock in moisture and provides a nice rejuvenating barrier of sorts between your skin and anything that settles on it.

Exfoliate.

How To Get Radiant Skin Naturally

You are washing your skin, moisturizing it, and hydrating it. What else can possibly be left that is important to achieving naturally radiant skin? Why exfoliating, of course! It is important to exfoliate your skin because skin that is not exfoliated gathers up dead skin cells, causing clogged pores. It also helps minimize discoloration and leads to soft, smooth, radiant skin.

You do not want to over-exfoliate though. Exfoliate a few times a week with a mild exfoliating scrub made especially for your face (other body exfoliating scrubs can be too harsh and abrasive for the sensitive skin in your face). This will get rid of the dead skin cells that regular cleansing does not wash off and will encourage new, healthy cells to grow. It also improves blood circulation, which helps with any discoloration and makes your skin look lighter and more youthful. And do not forget to moisture afterward!

Invest in a Few Good Natural Products.

Yes, there are a million products that promise youthful, radiant skin but the reality is that most of them do not really make a difference in the way your skin looks. You end up spending a ton of money trying them all out and six months later your skin looks exactly the same. Instead of buying all those $50 skin creams that have all kinds of chemicals in them, take it back to basics and buy a few simple, natural products to apply to your face fairly regularly.

How To Get Radiant Skin Naturally

Everyone’s skin is different, so there is no one product that is right for everyone. However, most people can benefit from adding a rosehip oil, coconut oil, argan oil, or oil blend to their skincare routine. You might be thinking something like, “If I put oil on my face, it is going to be greasy, cause breakouts, and make a whole mess of my face.” That is not true. Facial oils are a great way to add more moisture to your skin, protect and rejuvenate it with antioxidants, reduce discoloration, and give your skin a more youthful, glowing appearance.

Good quality facial oils are great because they are free of all the chemicals in many facial products but they produce visible results. Plus, they usually have a nice natural scent to them that you will enjoy breathing in as you apply it to your face. It is best to apply your chosen facial oil after you have washed your face before bedtime and/or before you apply sunscreen and makeup in the morning.

Radiant skin is not something reserved for the young. If you take care of your body and treat your skin right, you can have beautiful, glowing skin your entire life. The fact of the matter is, you are probably already doing some of these things. Now all you need to do is fill in the gaps by doing things like drinking enough water and trying to get a little more sleep at night. Before you know it, you will have positively radiant skin.
