If you’re like most Moms, you love celebrating holidays with your little ones in as many ways as possible. Once the Easter eggs have all been dyed, and you’re done stuffing baskets, try this easy and fun craft, that will also help benefit your child’s fine motor skills!

Materials Needed:
- Construction Paper
- Scissors
- Washable Tempera Paint
- Drinking Straw
How To:
Cut out an egg shape from the construction paper (or since it’s a fairly easy shape, have your child cut it.)
Squirt different colors of paint onto the “egg”, and have your child blow through the straw to splatter the paint. It will create fun shapes and color combinations, as well as bubbles. Have them blow through the straw to decorate however they wish. For a fun finishing touch, you can add some glitter while the paint is still wet.

Discussion:
Talk to your preschooler about why the paint is spreading out. Have them attempt to “move the paint” using just their mouth and not the straw. Tell them that because they are blowing very hard into one spot, it creates a more forceful stream of air if you use the straw. You can also experiment with other types of straws you may have around the house, such as twisty straws, or coffee stirrers.
Display:
You can use yarn to make a fun child-created garland to display on your fireplace, or simply hang it on your refrigerator. Either way, your child will love seeing their creation, and you will love that they learned a new skill to create artwork.
