Did you know that this is one of the most common places for potential skin cancer spots to appear and that infections grow the fastest on cuts on your feet? Keep reading to find what to look for and ways to prevent possible heath issues.
What is a fitness retreat?
Fitness retreats have been becoming more popular lately but you may still have not heard of the concept. A fitness retreat is a trip to a private place, usually somewhere you would want to getaway to, anyway, where you can shut out the rest of the world and focus on your wellness. You get away from real life. Leave behind the stress of your job and other responsibilities. You turn off your phone. You remove the temptations that normally distract you from being fully focused on your body and spirit.
Having an occupied schedule can be a bit tiresome and challenging on a daily basis, especially when you unintentionally forget everything all about your health. A lot of people apparently leave behind their healthy habits and routines due to busy schedules. Although these kinds of occurrences are not actually intentional, some people just tend to focus on their work and responsibilities regularly. Similarly, having and living a healthy lifestyle is a bit challenging as well, but know that with the proper knowledge and steps of the processes, your fitness and health goals can be easily achieved and maintained. Accordingly, these tips will enable you to achieve and maintain your health even on a very busy schedule, especially if you are required to work all day.
Did you know that addiction is actually a brain disease? When an individual is addicted to a substance or situation, their brain develops an uncontrollable desire to consume the source of addiction, regardless whether or not they or their loved ones are put at harm’s risk. And yes, people do change themselves completely because of addiction.
Ah, summer time. Time to be outside. Time for fun in the sun. Time where the kids are home all.the.time.
If you are a self-proclaimed #fitmom, trying to find time when you can workout is seemingly more difficult in the summer than it is during the school year. Even though you don’t have the busy-ness of the regular school year, summer time seems to be more busy instead of less busy. Swim lessons, pool time, vacations, summer activities, summer camp shuffling, and never-ending playdates can make getting your workout in difficult. So sometimes you have to improvise, and that improvisation will come in the form of “What can I do to keep the kids occupied and outside long enough to actually get my heart rate up?”
Ok, so we are halfway through the year. Can you believe it? We can’t either. Let’s rewind and talk about those promises you made to yourself at the beginning of the year. Lose weight, be financially responsible, have new experiences, and so on. Looking back, can you say that you have fulfilled those New Year’s Resolutions? If not, can you say that you are certain those resolutions will be achieved within the next six months? Maybe you are on track to check those goals off your list, maybe your plans have become a bit derailed, or maybe you keep telling yourself you’ll “get to it”. No matter how fast the months are flying by, there is still time to make those changes you vowed to uphold through the year when the clock struck midnight on January 1st. Six months down, six months to go until we make a whole new set of resolutions or give the one’s we made in 2017 another try.

After a long, strenuous workout, many people head into their gym’s sauna for a period of relaxation. A sauna’s heat mimics that of moderate exercise – increasing heart rate and increasing sweat output – so it is a favorite among those who are active no matter their level of fitness. Traditional saunas are the ones you will see most often within gyms and spas. They use a heated room with a high temperature to create the desired effects. A lesser known and increasingly more common type of sauna is an infrared sauna. Although its main purposes are similar to that of a traditional sauna, it has particular health benefits that make some choose these over traditional saunas.
If you have ever thought that moving your body to the rhythm of music wasn’t worthwhile, you may want to think again. As a mom, we all know that a baby tends to relax and let go of tension in their little squishy bodies when you rock them (especially when rocked to music). There’s no good reason to let go of that natural-born instinct that movement (dance) and music can do to calm, relax, and rejuvenate you. Next time you hear the music playing, no need to deny your inner dance-freak any longer, because, Mom, here are five reasons you need to dance!
Recently, it seems as though every day there is an article in the news, on Facebook, or on television about a human trafficking operation and its victims. Most of us, well removed from the situation, simply glance at the media piece, thank God it’s not our children and move on never giving the issue a second thought. Unfortunately, this dark and discreet industry has become a part of our culture, a part of our country, and is much more flagrant and widespread than we may think.

How in the world do you feed nine children!? AND organic foods at that? Prioritize. It really is that simple. Whether the children were planned or not, they’re here now, and beyond breastfeeding or formula, it’s now time to move them onto solids. Perhaps you’re one of those crunchy mommas who want nothing but the most naturally grown and chemical free foods to ever touch your child’s lips – or you’re just good with wholesome food, organic on occasion is fine. Either way, you really do want organic, but let’s be real. Organic foods are 40-100% MORE expensive than their conventional counterparts, so let’s set aside feeding one child organic, but NINE!? Yes, and with a budget most families are on for a family of 4-6!
